Smithfield Little League wins the 12U STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!!

Smithfield defeated South Kingstown 2-1 on Sunday night to win the Rhode Island Little League title. The game was tied at one and needed extra innings. In the 7th inning, Mason Dionne delivered the walk-off hit to send Smithfield to regionals. "This team has no quit, we've been fighting all week," said Smithfield head coach Eric Gibree. "We put ourselves in a tough position early in this tournament but we showed how much grit and determination these kids have. "This is payday. All the work that these kids put in, to finally be able to cash that check and get to Bristol and try to make some noise. That's been the goal since we put this team together, literally since we were eight years old. We knew that this team could be special. "The Metro Region includes Connecticut, New York, New Jersey and Rhode Island.
